What are ACP and UCP, in one sentence each?
ACP — the Agentic Commerce Protocol — is about agents from different vendors and frameworks being able to work with each other and with your systems. UCP is about the commerce surface itself: machine-readable discovery, cart validation, and checkout sessions that an agent can call.
Mesh implements both so you do not have to track two moving specifications yourself.
These standards are still evolving. Is this premature?
The specifications are genuinely moving, and we will not pretend otherwise. Mesh versions against them and absorbs the churn on your side of the boundary. Our honest position: the work of making your catalog structured, your inventory accurate, and your checkout callable has standalone value regardless of which protocol wins — and that work is most of the effort.
Does this replace our commerce API?
No. Mesh sits in front of what you already have and translates. Your API, storefront, and OMS stay as they are; Mesh maps them onto the protocol surface and handles identity, scoping, and validation at the boundary.
How do we stop an agent doing something it should not?
Scoped authorisation per calling agent, explicit capability declarations, cart validation before commitment, rate limits, and revocable sessions. An agent gets exactly the permissions you grant it and nothing adjacent — reading your catalog does not imply being able to create an order.
